3rd CRD/Nando: Governor Bere Welcomes a Remarkable Record

Nando: The Nando Regional Dialogue Framework (CRD) held its third ordinary session of 2025 this Friday. Chaired by the governor, this major meeting provided an opportunity to assess ongoing development actions and define strategies for strengthening community resilience in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions focused on two key points: the progress report of the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project (PUDTR) and the presentation of the national 'farmside' collection campaign led by the National Food Security Stock Management Company (SONAGESS).

In his opening speech, the Governor and President of the CRD, Adama Jean Yves Bere, praised the commitment of the participants and reaffirmed the essential role of this body, described as "a true forum for exchanges on strategic issues related to the life of the region." He emphasized the need to evaluate and challenge stakeholders on the proper implementation of development projects and programs.

The session was marked by the presentation of the assessment of the implementation of the PUDTR in the Nando region, set for September 30, 2025. Launched in July 2023 for a total cost of approximately 15,801,849,269 CFA francs, the project, implemented by the regional branch in 30 municipalities, aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities and improve access to basic social services.

Governor Adama Jean Yves Bere congratulated the PUDTR for "all of its achievements" in the region, describing the results as "remarkable" despite technical, climatic and financial constraints. Notable achievements include the standardization and equipment of schools and health centers, the construction of rural roads, the construction of markets and bus stations, as well as the development of market garden sites, nutritious gardens and lowlands. These infrastructures and various supports contribute concretely to local development and social cohesion.

The PUDTR, scheduled for completion in December 2025, has received encouragement from regional authorities to finalize the remaining projects in order to consolidate its impact on the ground.

The other pillar of this session focused on food sovereignty. To this end, SONAGESS presented a presentation on the 'farmside' collection campaign, initiated as part of the agropastoral and fisheries offensive (OAPH), the objective of which is to ensure Burkina Faso's self-sufficiency by 2025. SONAGESS aims to build up the national food security stock by purchasing millet, corn, sorghum and rice directly from producers, with a national target set at 530,000 tonnes of cereals.

The operation, which runs from October 1 to December 31, 2025, is overseen by a rigorous system: 304 collection agents are mobilized to guarantee the quality and traceability of products, with secure payment, in cash or electronically. The mobilizing slogan of this campaign is unequivocal: "So that Faso never lacks grain." The CRD took note of this information, stressing the importance of strong regional mobilization for the success of this national campaign.

Closing the session, the Governor reiterated his gratitude to all development stakeholders and paid a glowing tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), engaged in the reconquest of the national territory. He recalled that development efforts are inseparable from peace and security.

The third session of the Nando CRD thus established itself as a strategic moment for evaluating and relaunching priority actions for the region.
