Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, chaired the opening of the international symposium for the 5th edition of Lompolo Night, an event dedicated to celebrating and magnifying the dramatic arts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the international conference is themed "Identity Representations and Cultural Expressions in the Dramatic Arts." Over the course of two days, performing arts professionals will explore this theme to propose solutions for embracing identity and cultural expression through the dramatic arts.
Minister Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo emphasized that the dramatic arts provide performances that celebrate the heroic deeds of ancestors and highlight historical figures in African culture. He noted that by investing in the essence of human spirit, the dramatic arts can cultivate models to guide society in reconstruction, thus reflecting cultural identity.
The Director General of Culture and Arts, Moctar Sanfo, stated that the conference is organized to create a platform for dramatic arts professionals to discuss specific themes, aiming to develop scientific documents that will help the arts contribute effectively to cultural identity and social cohesion.
The conference anticipates participation from several countries, including Mali, Niger, Togo, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Denmark, and Switzerland. The 5th edition of Lompolo Night will culminate on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the National Center for Performing and Audiovisual Arts (CENASA), where more than twenty official prizes will be awarded to performing arts actors.
