Sissili: The Association for the Promotion of Girls' Education and Women's Empowerment (APEFAF) delivered school kits to 100 vulnerable young girls in Leo on Saturday. This initiative, which is part of the celebration of International Day of the Girl Child, benefited from the support of partners including the NGO Children Believe.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the beneficiaries, including wards of the State, received school kits consisting of school supplies and bags. APEFAF President Assata Bationo/Ziba stated that the day is intended to be a framework for exchanges, advocacy, and actions to promote equal opportunities.
Prior to the ceremony, the association conducted several awareness-raising activities on gender-based violence, trained girls in entrepreneurship and juice making, and provided lessons on menstrual hygiene and the production of protection kits. The regional coordinator of women's organizations, patron of the ceremony, urged the young girls to highlight the training received and to apply everything they were taught for their empowerment.
The High Commissioner of Sissili Province, Tewende Isaac Sia, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives in favor of the population for the development of Sissili, while launching an appeal to families to invest in the education of their daughters. The ceremony ended in a festive atmosphere with performances by local and national artists, including the reggae artist "Grand Docteur".
