A campaign to distribute 200 tons of food began a few days ago in Solenzo. In the hope of being among the beneficiaries, IDPs spend the night at the level of the Humanitarian Action service.
Since August 18, 2023, the agents of the humanitarian action department have started distributing 200 tons of food to nearly 3,800 internally displaced people.
So from Monday to Friday as soon as the doors open, men and women are already lined up waiting their turn to show the CNIB hoping to have something.
Several hundred people who have to be served by few agents.
To be the first to be served very early, the IDPs who have not yet won their case sleep outside the doors of the Humanitarian Action service in the open air.
It was 9:35 p.m. this Thursday, August 24, 2023, when we walked around in front of the humanitarian action department.
Several people have already lined up as if food will be shared at night.
The women are in their corner, some with babies on their backs, others carrying mats and blankets.
“I'm on my seventh day today and I slept here for 2 nights and so far I haven't received anything. I left my children with an old woman at home and I'm with the head. I have no choice because I have nothing,” claims Safiatou Sabo.
Surrounded by grass in the middle of mosquitoes the fear of falling ill is not on the agenda according to Azeto Sawadogo.
“We come to stop under the sun without having anything and now I'm here every night. We came at 4am we didn't have and even at midnight so we started to sleep and I've been sleeping here for 3 nights, ”adds Azeto Sawadogo.
The men also line up.
A man who requested anonymity said: "If they did by village it was better like that it's mixed and it's by chance we win that's why we too started to sleep to see if we will have ".
