At least 4,942 people were affected by the floods on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the city of Bogandé (East) which recorded 117 millimeters of rainwater, learned the AIB .
According to the statistics of the committee in charge of the census of the disaster victims mandated by the Departmental Emergency Relief Council (CODESUR) of Bogandé (East), 4,942 people from 528 households were registered in the different districts of the city of Bogandé, following the recent floods.
On the afternoon of Saturday September 2, 2023, the city of Bogandé received 117 millimeters of rainwater causing one death and significant material damage.
Among the victims are 2,177 children, including 1,051 primary and secondary school students.
The victims, mostly Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), are now homeless.
With the deterioration of the security situation in the province of Gnagna, the city of Bogandé alone registers more than 50,000 IDPs.
