Burkina: AJPD-BF Conducts Awareness Campaign and Free Screening for Breast and Cervical Cancer

Ouagadougou: The Youth Alliance for Peace and Development in Burkina Faso (AJPD-BF) launched, this Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Pogbi Urban Medical Center (CMU), the 3rd edition of "AJPD-BF Rose", an awareness campaign and free screening against breast and cervical cancer. "As part of Pink October, we organized an awareness campaign and free screening for breast and cervical cancer for women," said Anderson Ouedraogo, president of the organizing committee.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this 3rd edition of the "AJPD-BF Rose", which is an awareness and screening campaign against breast and cervical cancer, is held under the theme: "Cancer is fought early, AJPD-BF Rose, a commitment for life". Anderson Ouedraogo indicated that "this campaign aims to encourage women to take to heart the existence of female cancers for good preventive care." He reaffirmed the AJPD-BF's commitment to working towards the eradication of cancers through awareness and screening campaigns.

Anderson Ouedraogo also called on all organizations to provide assistance to women living with cancer. "I urge all women to go to a medical center to get tested, because it is easier to fight this disease when it is discovered early," urged Mr. Ouedraogo. The president of the AJPD-BF Rose organizing committee, Anderson Ouedraogo, spoke this Saturday on the occasion of the 3rd edition of the awareness campaign and free screening against breast and cervical cancer.

For his part, the head doctor of CMU Pogbi, Dr Eric Ilboudo, welcomed the initiative of the AJPD-BF which aims to fight against cancer, a devastating scourge. "It is together that we will succeed in overcoming all the ills that undermine our society and in restoring the health landscape in Burkina Faso," he stressed. Dr. Ilboudo invited every woman to become an ambassador so that no woman in Burkina Faso is ignorant of the warning signs of cancer.

Asseta Maiga, who came to get screened, testified that her daughter-in-law lost her life to breast cancer. She called on all women to get screened whenever they can. "Those who notice a change, I urge them to go to a health center and avoid self-medication," she concluded. The Youth Alliance for Peace and Development in Burkina Faso (AJPD-BF), created in 2021, is a non-profit organization working in the humanitarian field.
