Burkina Faso and Morocco Enhance Military Cooperation

Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Morocco have taken significant steps to enhance their military cooperation, as highlighted by the recent meeting of the Joint Military Commission hosted by the General Directorate of Military and Defense Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs. The meeting took place from September 29 to October 2, 2025, focusing on implementing and expanding the cooperative activities between the two nations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a delegation of Moroccan military experts visited Ouagadougou to collaborate with their Burkinabe counterparts. The gathering aimed to evaluate the progress made since the last Joint Military Cooperation Commission meeting and to explore new possibilities for collaboration. The cooperation has seen a strong commitment from the Kingdom of Morocco, particularly in the training of Burkinabe officers at Moroccan military institutions. Training and military health are among the key areas where Burkinabe military personnel have received capacity building.

The second edition of this meeting provided both countries an opportunity to continue their partnership across technical, operational, and logistical spheres. By reinforcing their synergy, Burkina Faso and Morocco are expressing their shared intention to bolster the capabilities of their armies to address current security challenges. The two countries have also formalized their cooperation with a military and technical cooperation agreement signed in 2024.
