Ouagadougou: During the 5th session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Morocco, held in Ouagadougou, the Director General of Bilateral Cooperation, Bassirima Toure, extended an invitation to experts from both countries to explore new diplomatic avenues aimed at strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Toure emphasized the importance of identifying new collaboration opportunities to further consolidate bilateral relations. He praised the regularity of bilateral meetings, highlighting them as a testament to the strong fraternity and cooperation that have been established over the years between Burkina Faso and Morocco.
Mr. Toure stated that the 5th session is a reflection of the highest authorities' commitment to maintaining dialogue and ensuring the implementation of previously made commitments. He noted that the authorities have urged the foreign affairs ministers to hold this session punctually to facilitate ongoing consultations.
The meeting's agenda includes assessing the outcomes of the 4th session, which took place from June 5 to 9, 2023, in Morocco, and making recommendations to enhance cooperation programs. Mr. Toure identified several key areas for collaboration, such as culture, vocational training, health, education, scientific research, agriculture, trade, transport, security, sport, and decentralized cooperation. He acknowledged the progress made by both countries in implementing mutually agreed programs.
Abdellah Boutadghart, leading the Moroccan delegation, praised the exemplary South-South cooperation model fostered by both nations under the leadership of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso. Mr. Boutadghart emphasized Morocco's commitment to solidarity-based cooperation, aiming to support Burkina Faso's development goals.
He further noted that the meeting in Ouagadougou serves as a significant opportunity to invigorate bilateral relations and reinforce cooperation in shared priority sectors. Mr. Boutadghart concluded by acknowledging the deep-rooted partnership, shared history, common values, and future-oriented mission between the two countries.
