Ouagadougou: Two correspondents from the Burkina Information Agency (AIB), Pascal Tiendrebeogo and Jean Martin Garane, have been decorated with the Order of Academic Palms, joining a distinguished group of 815 individuals recognized during the delayed celebration of World Teachers' Day 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delayed ceremony took place on October 17, 2025, honoring the outstanding contributions of education stakeholders across Burkina Faso. Pascal Tiendrebeogo, serving in Bazega province, and Jean Martin Garane in Bougouriba province, were among the recipients, celebrated for their dedication to the nation and their elevation to knights of the Order of Academic Palms.
Pascal Tiendrebeogo expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the recognition after 31 years of service as a source of satisfaction and pride, while thanking his family, colleagues, and superiors for their support. The AIB Information Director, Tilado Apollinaire Abga, conveyed congratulations on behalf of AIB Director General Seraphine Some/Millogo, emphasizing the broader significance of this honor. He encouraged the correspondents to continue serving Burkina Faso with dedication and patriotism.
The ceremony saw the recognition of 7 officers and 808 knights, acknowledging their dedication to education, research, and culture in Burkina Faso. Banaba Celine Abga/Ima, a teacher in Tenkodogo, dedicated her knighthood medal to her family and colleagues, expressing gratitude for the honor.
Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthene Dingara, commended the recipients for their perseverance and contribution to the nation's development, highlighting the importance of these "chalk soldiers" in building the future of Burkina Faso.
The Academic Palms serve as an honorary distinction to reward the merits of those involved in the education system and individuals who have significantly contributed to education, research, or culture.
