Burkina Prime Minister Inaugurates Modern Toll Booths in Key Locations

Ouagadougou: Burkinabe Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo on Saturday cut the ribbon marking the joint official opening of the modern toll booths at Tintilou on the RN1, Boudtenga on the RN4, and Kotedougou, three infrastructures designed and executed entirely by Burkinabe experts.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the new toll booths, constructed at a total cost of approximately 18 billion FCFA, are equipped with an automatic management system. Each booth features 13 lanes, including 6 for the outward journey, 6 for the return journey, and a central lane reserved for exempt vehicles. The lanes are divided to accommodate 3 heavy goods vehicles and 3 light vehicles.

Theodore Wendmalgre Ouedraogo, director general of the Special Road Fund, emphasized that the machines automatically record all collections, eliminating disputes during accounting. The modern tolls ensure that all vehicles must pay as they pass, overcoming previous issues related to currency or mechanical failures.

Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo highlighted that these projects reflect a commitment to providing quality and modern infrastructure for Burkinabe citizens. The new infrastructures are expected to enhance traffic flow and improve the mobilization of public revenue.

The Prime Minister also noted that the fully digital system guarantees traceability in terms of traffic and revenue collection, ensuring greater transparency and control over toll income. He urged road stakeholders to act responsibly to maintain the longevity of these infrastructures and encouraged toll collectors to uphold vigilance and dedication in their duties.
