Djoro Mobile Clinic Launches First Women’s Cancer Screening Campaign in Oronkua

Ouagadougou: The Djoro mobile clinic in a women's cancer screening campaign in Oronkua. The Oronkua Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) hosted, on Friday, October 3, 2025, an awareness and screening campaign for female cancers initiated by health personnel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this campaign is part of the "Pink October Month," an initiative of the Djoro Regional Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Gaoua Regional Hospital Center (CHR) and the region's five health districts. It was carried out with the support of the Djoro health region's mobile clinic team.

The first of its kind in the commune of Oronkua, this activity brought together several dozen women. It informed participants about the importance of early detection of breast and cervical cancer. In addition, it provided women with an opportunity to learn how to adopt behaviors that will help prevent these diseases.

Some pregnant women also took advantage of the presence of the medical team to have their ultrasound examination. All took part in interactive discussions, health education sessions, and free screenings.

According to the organizers, this initiative will undoubtedly contribute to reducing the mortality rate linked to female cancers, which are still very little known in rural areas.

The municipalities of Dano and Ouessa, in the province of Ioba, also benefited from this awareness and screening campaign for breast and cervical cancer.
