Faso Mebo Initiative Produces Over 23,000 Paving Stones in Fada N’Gourma

Gourma: More than 23,000 paving stones have been crafted at the site of the presidential initiative Faso Mebo in Fada N'Gourma, as reported by the technical advisor of the special delegation of the commune, Labidi Issiaka Toguyeni. This achievement was declared on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, highlighting the community's strong mobilization efforts from October 7 to 13, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Faso Mebo presidential initiative project witnessed significant progress during this period, driven by the unwavering commitment of the local population. The initiative's success was facilitated by substantial in-kind contributions and communal efforts, resulting in the production of 23,641 paving stones despite limited material resources.

The site operated with 2,025 molds, a quantity considered insufficient given the high number of participants, often leading to a halt in work around 11 a.m. each day. To aid the construction process, a large water basin with an 18,000-liter capacity was established to assist in mixing and equipment cleaning.

Numerous contributions were recorded, including 16 tons and 14 bags of cement, 187 packs of water, 2,000 liters of mixing water, and 21 tricycles of sand. Additionally, 70 molds, 26 pairs of gloves, 150 liters of diesel, four 50 kg bags of rice, a 25-liter can of oil, 15 loaves of bread, and 30 rice dishes were provided to support the participants.

Despite the success, challenges persist at the site, including a shortage of molds, financial resources, aggregates such as sand and granite, and an absence of protective sheds for the paving stones. There is also a lack of streetlights for night work and a shortage of pebbles.

Mr. Labidi Issiaka Toguyeni commended the determination of the Fada N'Gourma population, stating that their efforts reflect the will of the people of Goulmou to support the President of Faso's vision for endogenous development through the Faso Mebo initiative. The initiative, which seeks to enhance citizen participation in local infrastructure development, continues its implementation in Fada N'Gourma, emphasizing solidarity and collective commitment.
