Kenedougou: Representatives of the Guiriko region for the final phase of the National Culture Week (SNC) 2026 have been announced following a competitive selection process. 26 artistic troupes from the provinces of Kenedougou and Tuy participated in the regional elimination rounds on October 14 and 15, 2025, in Orodara. The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Service, Mathias Traore, and the sponsorship of the CEO of Presta Sud Babali, Mahamadou Barry.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the talent showcased included performances in orchestras, ballets, traditional song stars, traditional instrumental music, traditional dance, popular choirs, and slam. The province of Kenedougou emerged as a dominant force, winning in most categories except traditional dance.
Among the standout performers, the Kantigui troupe achieved victory in traditional instrumental music, while the Sabarikagny artistic ensemble of Drissa Diabate excelled in the traditional song stars category. Tch¨ Fila Boula won the slam competition, Fitini Koulekan triumphed in ballet, and Lamog´ya and Donko claimed titles in popular choir and choreographic creation, respectively.
The Kiense du Tuy troupe secured first place in the traditional dance category, preserving the pride of the Tuy province. Overall, nine troupes have earned the opportunity to represent the Guiriko region in the final phase of the SNC, slated for April 2026 in Bobo-Dioulasso.
It is noteworthy that the province of Houet, as an autonomous region, did not participate in these qualifying stages.
