Kampti District Police Station Officially Demobilized in Transition to Gendarmerie

Kampti: The Kampti District Police Station was officially demobilized on Friday, October 17, 2025, in favor of the gendarmerie as part of the implementation of the decree determining the territorial areas of competence of the National Police and Gendarmerie.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the farewell ceremony, held in the police station premises from 10 a.m., was chaired by the prefect, president of the special delegation of Kampti, Massahiba Aime Soulama. The event saw the presence of the provincial director of the National Police of Poni, Chief Commissioner Hassane Fayama, representing the regional director of the Djoro Police, as well as the active forces of Kampti.

During the ceremony, the police station was honored with a certificate of recognition. Two police officers, in addition to the police commissioner, were acknowledged with letters of commendation by the municipality of Kampti for their dedication and professionalism. The town's chief executive commended the police forces for their duty, discipline, and contribution to the security of the population, urging them to continue this spirit within the larger police family.

Prefect Soulama, in his address, encouraged the population and the active forces of Kampti to maintain effective collaboration with the gendarmerie, similar to their engagement with the National Police. He also requested the provincial director to advocate for increased gendarmerie personnel in Kampti.

Divisional Commissioner Hassane Fayama, speaking on behalf of the regional director, expressed gratitude to the authorities and the community of Kampti for their steadfast support to the National Police during its tenure. He wished for divine protection over all defense and security forces in fulfilling their duties.

He reassured the community that while the National Police is departing Kampti physically, it would remain with the population in spirit. He also promised to convey the grievances to the hierarchy faithfully.

The redeployment of the police station personnel to the National Police in Gaoua marks a new phase in the territorial reorganization of the internal security forces, aligning with the directives of the decree.
