The province of Kénédougou celebrated the International Youth Day on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner, Saïdou Sakira, in the presence of the Regional Director in charge of Youth, vocational training and employment in Hauts-Bassins, Napon/Sanou Laurentia.
The town hall of Orodara served as the setting for this commemoration. This celebration was placed under the theme: “Strengthening the employability of young people living in rural areas and the fight against insecurity”.
According to the Secretary General of the Kénédougou Provincial Youth Council, Yaya Traoré, this theme is topical and timely. For him, a young person with no training, no job, no income is easy prey for any potential recruiter. Thus, he invited the young people to be attentive during the discussions on this theme.
In the same vein, the Director of Finance of the First Ministry, Dramane Traoré and sponsor of the event, urged the young people of Kénédougou to show discipline, civic-mindedness, combativeness, rigor, honesty at all times and at any place.

Several activities punctuated the International Youth Day in Kénédougou. These include, among other things, training and information sessions on entrepreneurship and good citizenship, a blood donation, an aerobics session, a popular cross-country, and a health and reforestation day.
