Kompienga: More than 1,730 vulnerable households, consisting of internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and host families in the commune of Pama, received 200 tonnes of food aid organized by the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR) from October 6 to 10, 2025. The distribution was facilitated by the Provincial Council for Emergency Relief (COPROSUR).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation aimed to mitigate food shortages among affected populations by providing vital supplies of corn and rice. The initiative was overseen by the High Commissioner of Kompienga Province, Ismael Ouattara, who serves as the President of COPROSUR. He acknowledged the national solidarity shown in supporting those in need.
Mr. Ouattara highlighted that this assistance was intended to temporarily ease the food challenges that many families in the province are experiencing due to ongoing security and humanitarian issues. The symbolic handover ceremony was a significant event, underscoring the importance of such aid in the community.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the government's and provincial authorities' intervention, recognizing it as a crucial lifeline. They also appealed for ongoing support to help foster community resilience in the face of continuing adversities.
