The new Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Ismaël Sombié visited on Monday, July 3, 2023, the fertilizer factory located in the village of Bassem Poessin, in the Kouritenga province.
This visit allowed the Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Ismaël Sombié to express the Burkinabè government's commitment to agricultural development and food security.
It also allowed Mr. Sombié to discover the potential of the plant located in Bassem Poessin, in the municipality of Koupèla for the agricultural sector.
To this end, the general manager of the Société d'exploitation des phosphates du Burkina (SEPB), Dr. Boundia Alexandre Thiombiano presented the plant to the first manager of the department in charge of Agriculture.
Mr. Thiombiano said the plant is capable of producing 90 tons of fertilizer per hour and 200 tons of fertilizer have already been produced.
He took this opportunity to discuss the difficulties facing the company to the Minister.
“The difficulties we encounter relate to the supply of raw materials. It is not that there is an absence of raw materials, but sometimes the market procedures do not allow optimization,” he stressed.
The Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Ismaël Sombié said to pay particular attention to the concerns of the workers and promised to transmit to whom it may concern for the smooth running of the said company.
“I think that in the coming moments we will be relieved with regard to the production of fertilizers and the availability of these for farmers,” he concluded
