Mouhoun: The Governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, officially launched the presidential initiative "Faso Mªbo" in Dedougou, Mouhoun province. The launch, held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, saw the collection of more than 373 tonnes of cement. The event was attended by administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as local residents eager to support this initiative for local development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this marks the second phase of the "Faso Mªbo" initiative following its commencement in Boromo, Bale province. Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga commended the significant mobilization of the region's communities and socio-economic actors. He emphasized that "Faso Mªbo" aligns with the President of Faso's vision of fostering increased citizen involvement in national construction and resilience efforts. The initiative aims to empower every Burkinabe to actively participate in their community's development.
Governor Bassinga highlighted that "Faso Mªbo" represents not only a call for solidarity but also a duty of patriotism, encouraging individuals to contribute to the country's progress. He described it as a strategic tool for social and economic transformation and a testament to the Burkinab¨ people's confidence in their capabilities, urging continued collective commitment.
Dieudonne Tougfo, President of the Special Delegation of Dedougou, expressed the community's pride and readiness to back the initiative. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness, beautification, and sustainable infrastructure as part of daily life, stating that a healthy environment is crucial for development.
Souleymane Nakanabo, the High Commissioner of Mouhoun Province and president of the organizing committee, commended the strong participation of stakeholders from various sectors in making the event a success. He acknowledged the generosity and solidarity of contributors.
The initiative's results included 373 tonnes of cement, 1,960,000 CFA francs in cash, personal protective equipment, 1,100 paving molds, and trucks filled with aggregates, wheelbarrows, shovels, and trowels. These resources will support the construction of essential community infrastructure across the region.
The event featured blessings from traditional chiefs and religious leaders, along with cultural performances, fostering a strong sense of national unity and pride. Earlier in the day, a cross-country race organized by local forces drew a large crowd, culminating in a flag-raising ceremony at the high commission of Dedougou.
