The African Youth Health and Development Network of the Centre-North region (RAJS/CN) organized on July 20, 2023 in Kaya, a round table of Mossi and Peulh customary chiefs and religious leaders from the kingdom of Boussouma in the province of Sanmatenga.
Coming from the cantons of the kingdom of Boussouma, religious and customary leaders Peulh and Mossi held a round table on Thursday, July 20, 2023 in Kaya on the theme of building peace and social cohesion.
Organized by the African Health and Development Youth Network of the Centre-North region (RAJS/CN), this framework of exchanges brought together around twenty participants.
It made it possible to define endogenous strategic orientations for the construction of peace and social cohesion in order to facilitate the prevention and management of community conflicts in the kingdom of Boussouma.
Participants also took stock of the implementation of project activities for the year 2022.
Satisfied with the results obtained for the year 2022, the community leaders reiterated their commitment to remain actors of peace and social cohesion in their respective communities.
Thus, Protestants, Catholics, Muslims and customary of the kingdom of Boussouma, through their spokespersons, have solemnly committed themselves to developing social cohesion, religious tolerance, inter-religious dialogue and the diversity of beliefs.
For the project manager, Bibata Séré, this activity is part of the implementation of the "Project for the prevention and management of community conflicts through the involvement of customary Mossé-Peulh chiefs and religious leaders for lasting peace in the kingdom of Boussouma, province of Sanmatenga".
According to her, this six-month project aimed to "reduce disputes between communities and also promote peace between communities through community dialogues and actions/initiatives to promote peace at the level of the 12 cantons of the kingdom of Boussouma."
Appointed ambassadors of peace, the Mossi and Peulh leaders of the 12 cantons of the Kingdom of Boussouma, armed with new skills in the dynamics of behavior change within society, have been actively involved in the prevention and resolution of community conflicts through awareness-raising and awareness-raising activities for their peers and their population.
"We were able, after the strengthening of our capacities, to hold community meetings in order to sensitize our communities on the themes of social cohesion and living together in peace", testified the Dapornaba Boulga who specifies that his majesty the Naaba Sigri was personally involved in the talks held with the different communities.
The head of the Fulani community, welcoming the initiative of RAJS/CN and its partner, felt that the communities were receptive to the messages provided.
For the current year 2023, the RAJS/CN, still with the financial support of the NGO-PAX (Netherlands), intends, according to Bibata Séré, to "reduce by December 2023, tensions between the communities (hosts, IDPs, mossé, Fulani, religious, etc.) through peaceful cohabitation and the eradication of stigmatization under the leadership of the customary Mossé-Peulh chiefs and religious leaders in the Kingdom of Bous subma.”
