Leisure Day Promotes Social Cohesion Among IDPs and Host Communities in Gourma

Gourma: A day of leisure to strengthen cohesion between IDPs and the host population: The provincial director of Sports and Leisure of Komondjari, Mathias Kabore, initiated on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Fada N'Gourma, a leisure day for the benefit of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Komondjari and the host population, in order to strengthen social cohesion and living together.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Bartiebougou, Idogo Boukary, who welcomed participation from several nationals of the province, as well as actors from the world of sport and associations. Boukary described the day as an act of resilience and a commitment to peace, urging young people to promote peace and work towards a better future.

The provincial director, Mathias Kabore, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the vision of the supervising ministry, which promotes sport and leisure as tools for integration and social cohesion. The event provided a platform for relaxation and fraternity through activities such as board games and sports, including petanque, cards, lido, awale, checkers, Scrabble, and penalty kicks.

Assibidi Lompo, the provincial youth representative, noted that the day fostered a sense of family and strengthened bonds among the youth. He advocated for similar actions in the future to ensure unity and peace within the province.

Noumpoa Sawadogo/Traore, representing women's organizations, praised the initiative for rebuilding ties among the people of Komondjari. The day featured fun and sporting competitions, fraternal exchanges, and a friendly atmosphere, reflecting the collective desire for peace and harmony.
