Morocco # Burkina: match proceeds donated to manage the consequences of the earthquake in Morocco

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced in a press release sent to the AIB on Tuesday that the revenue from the international friendly match between the Atlas Lions of Morocco and the Stallions of Burkina Faso today (6:30 p.m. GMT) in Lens in France, will be donated “to the Special Fund dedicated to receiving voluntary solidarity contributions for the management of the consequences of the earthquake”.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announces that it is donating all proceeds from the friendly match which will take place on Tuesday September 12, 2023 between the national team and its counterpart from Burkina Faso – the majority of which comes from the Moroccan community residing in abroad – to the Special Fund dedicated to receiving voluntary solidarity contributions for the management of the consequences of the earthquake,” mentioned the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in its press release.

The two teams are playing this international friendly match to prepare for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers which start next November and the final phase of the African Football Cup of Nations which will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

For this match, a minute of silence will be observed to honor the memory of the victims who died during the earthquake that struck Morocco, VAR will be used. There will be no goal celebration and no anthem before the start of the match.

A magnitude 7 earthquake struck Morocco on September 8, causing nearly 3,000 victims, thousands of injuries and significant material damage.
