Nahouri Vocational Team Triumphs in Maracana Cup Opener

Nahouri: The Nahouri Vocational and Technical Training secondary education team emerged victorious in the opening match of the third edition of the Maracana Cup, held by the High Commissioner of Nahouri. The match took place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, marking the commencement of the highly anticipated football tournament in Nahouri province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this year's tournament is themed "Promoting social cohesion and brotherhood among the sons and daughters of the province of Nahouri through sports and physical activities." Over the course of a month, 12 teams, including four from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), will engage in friendly competition through football and board games.

Emile Hien, the secretary general of the province of Nahouri and president of the organizing committee, emphasized the significance of the event in fostering unity. He stated that the inter-service tournament aims to facilitate interaction, entertainment, and unity among workers from both private and public sectors within the province. "This activity will enable the Nahouri Provincial Directorate of Sports and Leisure to encourage young people, workers in decentralized services, and grassroots communities to practice sports, physical activities, and leisure," Mr. Hien remarked.

The organizing committee seeks to use this event to strengthen relations and promote peace and lasting social cohesion among the people of Nahouri. In the opening match, the Nahouri secondary education team of vocational and technical training defeated the health team with a score of 2 goals to 1. The tournament will culminate on November 29 with the grand finale, promising an exciting conclusion to a month of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
