National Police Conducts Awareness Tour on Noise Pollution in Passore

Passore: The national police raise awareness among maquis and bar managers about the effects of noise pollution. The Provincial Directorate of the National Police (DPPN) of Passore conducted a tour in the maquis and Bar-Dancing of Yako to inform workers and managers about the impact of noise pollution.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the DPPN organized this initiative as a part of its routine mission on Thursday, October 9, 2025, visiting various maquis and bars in Yako. The operation sought to educate maquis managers on noise pollution, which disrupts the local population's peace, especially during late hours.

The mission, led by Police Lieutenant Pascal Kiema, visited a total of 12 dance bars and maquis. Lieutenant Kiema emphasized that this awareness effort aligns with the municipal authorities' vision, which now restricts music in dance bars from 11 p.m. on Thursdays to Sundays.

Following the awareness phase, the Passore national police plan to enforce regulations in line with existing laws. Lieutenant Kiema also noted that maquis managers are permitted to play music, adhering to legal provisions allowing entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays until 2 a.m.

The approach was positively received by the maquis managers, who welcomed the measure as beneficial, particularly given the current security crisis. The Provincial Director of the National Police, Pascal Ghislain Some, mentioned that this awareness tour is in response to numerous complaints from the public about noise pollution disturbing their sleep.

The DPPN is relying on public cooperation to appreciate the mission's goal of safeguarding people and property. Mr. Some also encouraged the community to actively participate in awareness efforts and report any instances of noise pollution to the appropriate authorities.
