National Police of Passore Launches Helmet Awareness Campaign in Yako

Passore: The Provincial Directorate of the National Police (DPPN) of Passore carried out on Monday, October 14, 2025, in the city of Yako, an awareness campaign on the wearing of protective helmets and compliance with the highway code, with a view to reducing the number of traffic accidents in the said city.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign is part of the activities marking the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC). The DPPN of Passore took to the roundabouts of Yako to regulate traffic and educate road users on the importance of seat belts, helmets, and adherence to the Highway Code.

Police officers, along with volunteer safety officers (VADS), were stationed at intersections, traffic lights, and stop signs to provide road users with lessons on the Highway Code amidst the city's traffic. Police Lieutenant and Acting Central Police Commissioner, Moumouni Sawadogo, highlighted that the campaign's objective was to raise awareness among citizens, focusing on road safety measures such as wearing helmets and seat belts, observing speed limits, and respecting road signs.

Lieutenant Sawadogo emphasized that any violation of the Highway Code following this awareness campaign would be subject to penalties ranging from fines to custodial sentences. He urged the community to adhere to the guidelines provided during this preventive effort initiated by the DPPN of Passore.
