The special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui is holding from Monday August 07 to Friday August 11, 2023 in Ouahigouya, training sessions in saponification, tailoring, weaving and hairstyles for the benefit of 130 internally displaced women of the municipality of Ouindigui.
The difficult security situation in the province of Loroum has greatly contributed to the deterioration of the living conditions of the populations. Thousands of people, the majority of whom are women, have found refuge in the large towns of Yatenga without means of subsistence.
It is to contribute to strengthening the resilience of these populations that the municipality of Ouindigui in partnership with the Community Recovery and Stabilization Project in the Sahel (PCRSS), initiated training sessions in trades for 120 women. .
Proceeding to the opening of these sessions, the High Commissioner of the province of Loroum, Djibril Bassolé welcomed this initiative and invited the beneficiaries to make the most of the skills that will be acquired.
For the president of the special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui, Souleymane Gandema, the training and empowerment of young people and women are among the priorities of his commune.
He said that "in view of the specificity of the municipality due to the security situation, it has benefited from the support of the PCRSS through its "component 2: transitional support for the stabilization and territorial development of the communities".
“Through this component, particular emphasis is placed on capacity building in the professions of young people and women. After the training, the women will be equipped in four cohorts of trades, namely thirty women in saponification, thirty in cutting-sewing, thirty in weaving and 30 in hairdressing”, underlined Mr. Gandema.
Training is provided by the provincial directorate of youth, vocational training and employment of Loroum.
In December 2021, all the villages in the commune of Ouindigui were emptied of their populations following the multiplication of attacks by armed groups. In Ouahigouya and Séguénéga, initiatives are being developed to strengthen the resilience of these displaced populations.
