Loroum: Secondary school teachers in Loroum Province are enhancing their skills as part of a training session on curriculum reform launched by the High Commissioner of Loroum Province, Djibril Bassole. The session, which commenced on October 7, 2025, in Titao, is aimed at enabling teachers to better adapt to ongoing reforms in the education system.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the training organized by the General Directorate of General Education (DGEG) is set to conclude on October 10, 2025. It is focused on strengthening the professional competencies of teachers, particularly in implementing the Competency-Based Approach and the Individualized Pathway (APC/PI). These methodologies emphasize placing the learner at the center of the educational process. The initiative is part of a broader national program for the initial and continuing training of teaching staff, overseen by the Ministry responsible for Secondary Education.
Wendkouni Sawadogo, a participant and teacher, expressed support for the training, noting its alignment with the country's educational directions. She highlighted the introduction of trades as a means to combat unemployment by encouraging self-employment among young people.
Similarly, Yacouba Niampa, the censor of the Provincial High School, praised the reform, emphasizing its potential to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, thereby making education more relevant to employment realities.
Souleymane Ouermi, the provincial director in charge of secondary education in Loroum, outlined the workshop's objective to acquaint teachers with the curriculum reform. He stressed the importance of understanding the reform's content to ensure schools are better aligned with local needs.
