The project of territorial division of delegation (mutamadiyat) «carried out in record time using only Tunisian resources", is a "national and historic" project, the first of its kind since independence, said the president of the Independent High Electoral Authority (ISIE), Farouk Bouasker. This project covers the entire geographical area of Tunisia, he added. Speaking at a ceremony held in Ben Arous on Tuesday to pay tribute to all those involved in the territorial division process in the region, Bouasker said the project had been made possible thanks to the efforts of 147 field teams and 492 regional committees. This is a new achievement that will contribute to the implementation of the State's strategic plans, he stressed. Thanks to this project, the ISIE will be able to update its electoral register before the next elections. It will also help in the selection of polling stations and the distribution of voters, he added. Bouasker said the ISIE will start verifying the polling stations in the next few days, pending the preparation of the electoral calendar and the issuance of the writ of election by the President of the Republic. With regard to the unusual division of the constituencies, Bouasker pointed out that the ISIE had published on its Facebook page all the data relating to the 2,155 local constituencies in 2,085 delegations, with the addition of some 70 constituencies.
