The Union of Religious and Customary People of Burkina Donates Sheep to Vulnerable Households

Sourou: The Union of Religious and Customary People of Burkina Faso for Health and Development (URCB/SD), Sourou section, provided a pair of sheep to 15 vulnerable households in collaboration with the provincial directorate of Humanitarian Action.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation, which took place on Monday, October 20, 2025, included not only pairs of sheep but also poultry kits, bags, soap, and dolo preparation kits for some beneficiaries. Moumouni Sawadogo, a representative of URCB/SD, stated that the purpose of this donation is to help households achieve financial independence. Sawadogo explained that relying solely on the provision of food and other goods is unsustainable, whereas equipping households with resources like livestock and poultry kits can enable them to become more independent.

Azeta Guigma, one of the recipients, expressed her gratitude, noting that the support will assist them in becoming self-sufficient. She mentioned that even without ongoing food aid, they would be able to manage by raising the animals provided. Assami Kiendrebeogo, representing the provincial director of Humanitarian Action in Sourou, praised the URCB/SD initiative and encouraged beneficiaries to care for the animals to secure their future well-being.

As a previous effort, these households had received bags of rice and cans of oil from URCB/SD, with financial backing from their partner, Save the Children.
