Tuy/Funzan Brotherhood Cup: Civil Servants Triumph in Tight Final

Founzan: The final of the 3rd edition of the Fraternity Cup was contested on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Founzan, Tuy province, where the Founzan civil servants' team emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over the Pang Ya Wende team from sector 4. This year's competition was centered around the theme: "Sport, a factor of well-being, social cohesion and living together."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament commenced on September 6th and concluded at the Founzan bus station square. The final match featured the Founzan Civil Servants' Sports Association against the Pang Ya Wende team from Sector 4. Spectators were treated to a competitive encounter as both teams vied for supremacy.

The decisive moment came just five minutes into the match, which was played in two halves of 25 minutes each. The early goal enabled the civil servants to retain their title, taking home the trophy, 100,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. Meanwhile, the Pang Ya Wende team secured 75,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball for their efforts.

In the rankings, the Kovio team claimed third place, earning 50,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball, while FC Elite, in fourth place, received 25,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. The remaining 24 participating teams were each awarded a ball as a token of encouragement.

Martin Sampoe, president of the Founzan municipal youth association, highlighted the event's benefits for the local youth. He expressed gratitude to local authorities and the event's sponsor for their material and financial support, and commended the organizing committee's efforts.

Pehoun Fran§ois Daourou, the event sponsor, expressed his honor in being associated with the edition and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Founzan's youth. Wahabo Kabore, president of the special communal delegation of Founzan, praised the community's strong participation as a testament to the values of fraternity and social cohesion promoted by the cup. He also pledged continued support for youth-led initiatives.

In a gesture of solidarity, the sponsor, Pehoun Fran§ois Daourou, donated five 25-kilogram bags of rice and five three-liter cans of oil to the widows of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) who perished in the commune. The event concluded with a concert by the artist PRIVAT at the communal inn of Founzan, celebrating fraternity and social cohesion.
