Two Gabonese Walkers Welcomed Triumphantly in Bittou

Boulgou: Two young Gabonese people, who set off on foot from their country to show their support for the presidents of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), were warmly welcomed Thursday in Bittou, in the province of Boulgou, by a large crowd who came out to salute their courage and their pan-Africanist commitment.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the marchers, Vinga Sthemg, a physical education and sports teacher, and Pambou Phamvel, a political science student, left the town of Abitam, Gabon, on August 1, 2025. Their journey took them successively through Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, and Togo, before entering Burkina Faso, at Bittou, on October 16.

"We are young Africans aware of the situation on the continent. We have lost many leaders due to lack of support. Through this march, we want to express our solidarity with the presidents of the AES, particularly Captain Ibrahim Traore, for his vision and his fight for the sovereignty of Burkina Faso," said Mr. Vinga.

According to him, this march constitutes a strong message addressed not only to the authorities of the AES, but also to African youth, so that they become aware of their role in defending the causes of the continent.

His traveling companion, Mr. Pambou, expressed his gratitude to the Burkinabe people for the warm welcome they received. "Before leaving, I left a message for my family and my nine-month-old baby: if I die, let them know that it is for a just cause, that of the freedom of Africa," he said.

The traditional chief of Bittou, Naaba Kibkorgho, congratulated the two young people for their bravery and commitment, before extending his blessings for the rest of their journey.

The two walkers plan to continue their journey through Mali and Niger, in the same spirit of support for sovereignty and solidarity between the peoples of the AES.
