Zambo: The special delegation of the commune of Zambo, located in the province of Ioba, conducted a hepatitis screening and vaccination campaign on October 7 and 8, 2025. This initiative was in collaboration with the Network of Young Sentinels for Education and Health (RJ-SES) and marked the second phase of the Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation Days (JEPPC).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special delegation, Tassere Badini, emphasized the urgency of addressing the high prevalence of hepatitis in the commune. With a hepatitis positivity rate of 19.7%, significantly exceeding the national average, the campaign aimed to curb the spread of viral hepatitis in the community.
The RJ-SES reported that the cost of the screening test was set at 1,000 CFA francs. Vaccination, which was available to individuals who tested negative, required three doses at a cost of 3,000 CFA francs per dose for lifelong protection.
In discussing the management of positive cases, Ahado Nikiema, the head nurse at the Zambo Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), stated that some patients are referred to medical centers in Dissihn and Dano for further care. He also mentioned that RJ-SES occasionally conducts viral load analyses by sending samples to Bobo-Dioulasso.
Beyond the health campaign, the special delegation has organized additional activities under the JEPPC. These include a civics conference at the departmental high school of Zambo, a sanitation operation, and diabetes screening for the elderly. The program also featured the raising of the national flag and a reading of the President of Faso's message at the Zambo inspection and the general education college (CEG) of Djikologo.
