Ioba: The Ioba Schools Arts and Performing Festival launched

The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Ioba, organized from May 23 to 24, 2023 in Dano, the 4th edition of the Ioba Schools Arts and Performance Festival (FASIE), under the theme “Cultural challenges for a quality school in an emergency situation”.

According to the provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education (DPEPPNF) of Ioba, Adama Néya, the choice of this theme stems from the security context marked by violence of all kinds in the country of honest men.

“These negatively impact the efforts of actors in the education system,” he continued.

Mr. Néya noted that culture appears to be one of the responses capable of restoring the qualities of a good school.

“The objectives of this festival are, among other things, to promote culture by building a strong cultural identity for young people, safeguarding cultural heritage and customs, developing talents among students and creating a healthy emulation for excellence,” he added.

More than 200 festival-goers from 24 schools in 8 basic education districts (CEB) in the province competed in disciplines such as ballet, popular choir, recital and traditional instrumental music, among others.

The first three in each discipline received prizes and bonuses were awarded to the other participants.

In terms of awards and prizes, we find the school of Orpoune "A", in popular choir and receives an envelope of 50,000 CFA francs.

The school of Kolkol, receives 50,000 F CFA in theater, the Germain Nadal school with 40,000 F CFA in ballet, the school of Koper earns 50,000 F CFA in traditional dance, the Dissihn "C" school in recital pockets 25,000 CFA francs and in archery student Moïse Kambouolé from Orpoune B receives 10,000 CFA francs.

The president of the organizing committee, Sié Palé, said he was satisfied with the mobilization and the high level of competition of the troops.

Nevertheless, the president of the jury, Mouon-Bome Hervé Somda, made some observations to the supervisors and artists/students for the perfection of the performances.

The Secretary General of Ioba Province, André Lankoandé, invited festival-goers to be resilient by using our culture to meet challenges as stated in the theme.

For him, FASIE provides a certain future for culture within our societies.

Mr. Lankoandé reiterated his thanks to the godmother, Caromé Somé and to the American citizen Marc Bockley, partner of FASIE since 2019.

He congratulated the organizers for the smooth running of the event for the benefit of the children.

The FASIE constitutes an important lever to perpetuate the traditional cultural identity.

Through school, children can be instilled with the basics of resilience for peace through culture.

Burkina: More than 125,000 IDPs have returned home

Burkina: Project funding, audience and the fight against climate change on the daily menu

The Country indicates that the 1 st project relates to the financing of the Support Project for Entrepreneurship, Skills Development and Technological Adoption (ECOTEC).

The 2 nd agreement relates to the Livestock Resilience and Competitiveness Project (PRCEL) in Burkina.

The third agreement concerns the Program for Resilience, Local Governance and Basic Services (PREGOLS).
