Youth Maracana: 32 teams to attack a trophy endowed with 1 million FCFA

The 1st edition of the Ouagadougou youth maracana football tournament endowed with 1 million FCA was launched on Saturday on the “King de Karpala” field (southern district of Ouagadougou) with the participation of 32 teams, it was found.

It is rare to see a maracana tournament in the city of Ouagadougou endowed with the sum of 1 million FCFA. “It's a special maracana. For a first we went up to 1 million to push the teams to give the best of themselves in order to raise the level of the competition and to ensure that it is of high quality. And that is a credit to Burkinabe football,” said competition promoter Ibrahim Dianda.

He mentioned that this competition was initiated “after deep reflection. It is to add soil to soil. Holidays are the perfect time for maracanas in neighborhoods. We wanted to federate the energies to make a grandiose tournament which will bring together several teams from several districts and even certain teams from the 3rd division ”.

For him, sport in general and king sport in particular “is a factor of social cohesion. We are in a period where resilience is advocated. The country is shaken by several evils: security, the socio-economic problem, etc. and through sport we give joy”.

This tournament also aims, according to its promoter, to “help young talents to hatch. It is in the sectors and neighborhoods that young talents are able to promote themselves. We even contacted a lot of clubs like EFO and RCK etc. who will send supervisors for talent detection”.

The competition was able to get started thanks to the support of certain partners. For a month, the 32 teams will compete in talent to offer themselves a lady cup and write their name and golden letter in the annals of the competition. The final is scheduled for mid-September.

To give the starting signal of the hostilities a gala match was played between Young talents and Catalan FC (2-1). The matches will be played in direct elimination.
