AFAC unveils second cycle of “North Africa Cultural Programme” for 2024-2027

The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, has unveiled the key features of the second cycle of its "North Africa Cultural Programme" (NACP) for the years 2024-2027. This new cycle was introduced during a press conference held on Tuesday at the Swiss Embassy in Tunis. The NACP in its 2nd Cycle is a four-year initiative (2024-2027) dedicated to artistic institutions, spaces, and associations in five North African countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. It comprises two support mechanisms: the National Fund for Cultural Opportunities (FNOC) and the Regional Competitive Creativity Fund (RCCF). The FNOC programme focuses on providing support to artistic and cultural institutions and spaces in each of the five targeted North African countries, offering assistance in institutional and programmatic domains. The Regional Competitive Creativity Fund (RCCF) supports collaboration projects established through partnerships involving at le ast one entity based in North Africa and one or more entities present on the African continent and/or in the Arab region. During its first cycle (2019-2023), the NACP awarded 40 grants, supporting 28 organisations at the institutional and programmatic levels, and 12 collaborative projects in North Africa. The programme also offered professional and technical support, meeting spaces, as well as a digital platform providing information, resources, and progress tracking for supported entities and projects. The NACP originated from an international tender issued by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, secured by AFAC in mid-2018. It aligns with the aspirations of both AFAC and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, addressing recommendations from various sectoral studies, meetings, and discussions groups. Burkina: No escape for terrorists neither in the three border zone nor elsewhere (updated at 8:40 pm)

Ouagadougou: The three border area, the localities of Mordaaga (Pissila) and Bokuy (Djibasso) have been cleared of several terrorists in recent hours, thanks to sustained strikes by the army fleet Burkinabè, AIB learned Tuesday from security sources. Caught for 48 hours by air vectors in the three border zone, the terrorists are looking for escape routes to save their skins. This is how on the night of January 14 to 15, 2024, criminals came to cover a damaged vehicle with branches on the road to Boulkessi in Mali. They hoped to eventually repair it to get out of it. But the pilots completely destroyed the vehicle in a strike and returned to an observation position. Taken by surprise, a column of terrorists heads at full speed towards the North-Central region on the morning of January 15, 2024. They settled in the woods of Mordaaga near the town of Pissila. The bandits are trying to organize themselves after the hell suffered in the three border zone. After hours of observations, the aerial vectors came i nto action around 4 pm A first missile ignites a group of terrorists with their logistics. The Cheetah Unit launches an assault on the area to finish the job. Some weapons and motorcycles are still in usable condition. The rest burns in the flames. In addition to the three border area and the Center-North, the Burkinabè army fleet operated on January 16, 2024 in the Boucle du Mouhoun. Indeed, research led to the discovery of a terrorist base in the Bokuy area, 12 km from Djibasso. The criminals are indeed there on motorcycles and on foot going about their business. Patience is required as usual. It was when the killers quickly went under a tree to receive instructions that a ball of fire consumed them in the middle of the day. Survivors who were standing guard fled, but were followed. Terrorist fighters still seem not to have understood the message: 'Lay down your arms or perish.' There will be no hiding place and no escape.' But the rest of the operations will inevitably bring them back to their sens es, AIB sources say. Source: Burkina Information Agency
