Administration and Partners in Djibo Convene for Enhanced Local Development Coordination

Djibo: A consultation framework was held this Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the meeting room of the Djibo town hall, under the chairmanship of Mr. Wend-n©r© Wilfried TOUGMA, High Commissioner of the province of Soum. This meeting brought together the local administration, community representatives, as well as NGOs and development associations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participants emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination among various entities, including the administration and civil society organizations, with a focus on NGOs and development associations. This was identified as a key factor in fostering synergy in local development efforts.

Security challenges were another major topic of discussion. Attendees evaluated the current security situation and discussed the need for adapting interventions to suit the evolving context. This was deemed crucial for the safety and progress of the communities involved.

The meeting also addressed community needs, prioritizing sectors that require immediate attention. Participants deliberated on effective resource mobilization strategies to meet these needs. The discussions were aimed at identifying practical solutions for the community's pressing issues.

As a way forward, participants concurred on the necessity of holding such consultations regularly. Plans are underway to establish a schedule for periodic dialogues to ensure continuous communication and collaboration among all stakeholders engaged in local development.

In terms of advocacy, the High Commissioner urged partners to initiate substantial projects for the province. In recognition of their significant contributions to the community, two organizations were awarded certificates of recognition. These were the Provincial Coordination of Women's Organizations (CPOF) and the Rural Community Support Structure (SERACOM), both of which have made notable impacts on the people of Soum.
