AES Youth Urged to Unite to Build a Stable and Prosperous Sub-Region

The ministers in charge of youth of the Alliance of Sahel States reaffirmed Tuesday in Ouagadougou, the importance of joining forces of the young generations in building a stable and prosperous sub-region.The ministers in charge of youth of Mali and Niger traveled to Burkina Faso on Tuesday to demonstrate their friendship and solidarity with their Burkinabe counterpart, Roland Somda.This visit is part of the first summer university of the member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), organized from September 25 to 27, 2024 in Ziniaré by the Circle of Actions for Economic and Social Development of Burkina Faso (CADES-BF).The ministers were accompanied by the general directors in charge of volunteering of Burkina and Mali, as well as the president of the organizing committee of the first summer university, of the AES Ibrahim Belem.They reaffirmed on the occasion the importance of joining forces of the younger generations in building a stable and prosperous sub-region.According to the organ izing committee, the first summer university of the AES member states is intended to be a platform for reflection and exchange on the challenges and opportunities faced by young people in member countries.The workshops, conferences and debates that will take place there aim to strengthen civic engagement and the involvement of young people in development, peace and security processes, it added.The commitment of the ministers of Mali and Niger alongside their Burkinabe counterpart also symbolises the governments' desire to strengthen cooperation ties in the field of youth volunteering. By placing youth at the heart of the discussions, these countries are showing their ambition to build a common future, based on voluntary engagement, solidarity and innovation, he notes.For this committee, this meeting in Ziniaré, more than just an event, is a reflection of a clear political will: that of promoting an active, united youth resolutely turned towards the future, in a context where security and development mus t go hand in hand.Source: Burkina Information Agency
