Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) Brahim Bouderbala had a meeting, Tuesday at the Bardo Palace, with French MP of the National Assembly Benjamin Haddad. Bouderbala called for boosting cooperation between countries situated on both shores of the Mediterranean so as to overcome common challenges, namely irregular migration and its repercussions on the security of the region, reads a statement of the Parliament. The Parliament Speaker welcomed the cooperation between Tunisia and France, especially that France is Tunisia's first economic and social partner. Bouderbala expressed willingness to develop cooperation between the parliamentary institutions of the two countries by increasing mutual parliamentary visits and the exchange of expertise. The meeting also focused on Tunisia's latest political developments, particularly since the promulgation of the 2022 Constitution as well as the prerogatives granted to the ARP and the National Council of Regions and Districts, the same source said. French MP Benjamin Haddad expressed France's readiness to bring further support to Tunisia so that it achieves its social and development goals. The meeting was attended by Advisor to the ARP Speaker in charge of Foreign Relations, Tunisians abroad and Migration, Ezzedine Tayeb.
