Ouagadougou: At least 110,000 people mobilized on Saturday to denounce the "coup de force" by French President Emmanuel Macron.Gathered in Paris at the Place de la Bastille, at the call of La France Insoumise (LFI), the demonstrators carried banners and placards criticizing the head of state's refusal to appoint the candidate of the New Popular Front (NFP), Lucie Castets, to Matignon.Protesters also expressed anger at the appointment this week of right-wing politician Michel Barnier as prime minister.The Interior Ministry announced a total of 110,000 protesters, while La France Insoumise (LFI) claimed 300,000.Jean Luc Mélenchon, Mathilde Panot, president of the LFI group in the National Assembly, and the leader of the Communist Party Fabien Roussel were present at the demonstration in Paris.A procession in support of Palestine joined the demonstration. The demonstrators chanted "Stop genocide in Gaza" "Israel murderer, Macron accomplice"As a reminder, LFI called on the French to demonstrate in all cities across France against the "coup de force" of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and his "denial of democracy".LFI, which is part of the New Popular Front (NFP, a coalition of left-wing parties), is thus organizing its response in the streets, two months to the day after legislative elections that it won but without an absolute majority in the National Assembly."Censorship, mobilization, dismissal" are the key words of LFI leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who urged his troops to "the most powerful mobilization possible".Demonstrations were also organized in other localities, 150 points of mobilization across France according to the organizers.Source: Burkina Information Agency
