Ouagadougou: The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, presented the Confederation of African Football (CAF)'s approval certificate for the August 4 Stadium to His Majesty Mogho-Naba Baongho on Tuesday at the royal palace.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the presentation was attended by the President of the Burkinabe National Olympic and Sports Committee, Singapinda Jean Yam©ogo, and the President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, Oumarou Sawadogo. The certification marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the nation's sports infrastructure.
The Minister highlighted the importance of this achievement, noting that overcoming the challenges of the August 4th Stadium was a priority upon his assumption of office. He expressed gratitude for the support and blessings received from His Majesty Mogho-Naba Baongho, which were instrumental in the successful completion of the stadium's certification process by CAF.
Minister Somda emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving sports facilities, acknowledging the substantial investment by the Burkinabe government. He also mentioned the implementation of reforms and the acquisition of maintenance equipment to ensure the longevity of the infrastructure.
In his remarks, His Majesty Mogho-Naba Baongho provided recommendations to the ministry to take appropriate measures for the upkeep of the stadium. The Minister of Sports reiterated the importance of civic involvement, urging the public to actively participate in preserving the stadium.
The sports department plans to conduct a comprehensive communication and awareness campaign to engage citizens in this endeavor. An opening ceremony for the stadium is scheduled for Monday, August 4th, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Burkinabe national team, the Stallions, who will now have the opportunity to play at the newly certified venue.
