Bam: The city of Kongoussi paid unanimous tribute this Thursday to Adama Ou©draogo, known as "OA," a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist who died on July 15, 2025, in Ouagadougou, following a brief illness. His burial, which took place on July 17, paralyzed the city's economic activities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Adama Ou©draogo was born on January 1, 1975, in Manegtaba, in the commune of Tikar© (Bam province), and was an iconic figure in the Kongoussi business world. He was the President and CEO of OA D©cor, the FAVOR Market food store, and the founder of the Wend Songda Evangelical School Complex in Kongoussi. He also served as an elected consular officer at the Chamber of Commerce for the Bam province.
His funeral was well attended, bringing together many personalities, including the High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ou©draogo, the High Commissioner of Sanmatenga, Idrissa Gansonr©, and the President of the Federation of Tourism and Hotel Employers' Organizations (FOPAHT), C©lestin Mahamoudou Pierre Zoungrana.
In his testimony, the High Commissioner of Bam paid tribute to the memory of "a humble, helpful man, deeply committed to local development": "He was a man who contributed greatly to the development of Bam. He was a great architect of the dynamics of reconquest of the national territory," he said.
The Assemblies of God (AD) Church, of which he was an active member, praised his exemplary faith and his constant commitment to God's work, both in his personal life and in his businesses.
As a sign of mourning and gratitude, almost all businesses in Kongoussi closed their doors on July 17. The central market, restaurants, street shops, and money transfer services suspended their operations. Only public administration, gas stations, banks, and pharmacies remained open.
The late Adama Ou©draogo, 50, leaves behind a widow and six children. His passing leaves a huge void in the socioeconomic and spiritual landscape of Kongoussi.
