Bobo-dioulasso: On the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day, the Bobo-Dioulasso House of Arrest and Correction (MAC-B) launched the first edition of "72 Hours of the Prisoner", a citizen initiative aimed at promoting social reintegration through community actions such as cleaning the city. In collaboration with the Bobo-Dioulasso city hall, nearly a hundred inmates were mobilized for a major cleanup operation in the city. Equipped with sanitation tools, they helped clean gutters and collect garbage, in a spirit of responsibility and civic-mindedness.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this symbolic activity aims to demonstrate that detention should not be synonymous with exclusion, but can instead be a lever for personal transformation and civic engagement. The initiative is also part of a desire to strengthen ties between prisons and local communities, by promoting the active participation of prisoners in community life.
