Bogodogo University Hospital Chapel Project Launched by Bishop Kontiébo

Bogodogo: Monsignor (Mgr) Prosper Kontiébo laid the foundation stone of a chapel on the afternoon of Friday, June 27, 2025, within the grounds of the Bogodogo University Hospital Center (CHU) to provide a setting for prayer, contemplation, and assistance to the sick, their companions, and the hospital's healthcare professionals.According to Burkina Information Agency, the project involves the construction of a religious building on an area of 561.55 square meters. The chapel will include 150 seats, an office for the chaplains with a secretariat, and annex buildings such as a Marian grotto and a place reserved for Saint Joseph, as well as two internal and external toilets.The Metropolitan Archbishop of Ouagadougou, Prosper Kontiébo, emphasized the symbolic significance of laying the foundation stone, describing it as a gesture bearing faith and hope. During the blessing prayers at the site, he expressed the belief that the chapel would be a place where worshippers can connect with God through prayer and so ng, and where the word of God would be shared.Mgr Kontiébo highlighted that the true Church encompasses not just the physical building but also the community, faith, and charity of its people. He encouraged the community to build themselves through virtues to create a true Church that would contribute to the humanization of the health center.Soubeiga W. Jean Modeste, President of the Catholic Community of Saint-Raphaël of the University Hospital of Bogodogo, stated that the construction of the chapel is estimated to cost 73 million FCFA. Currently, 5 million FCFA has been raised through contributions, and he called upon people of goodwill to support the construction of the chapel.The ceremony was attended by the first authorities of the Bogodogo University Hospital, hospital staff, Christian faithful of the CCB Saint Raphael, and other religious communities.
