Boulgou Stakeholders Focus on WELTARE GURE Project and Agro-Pastoral Initiatives

Boulgou: Development stakeholders in Boulgou province met Thursday in Tenkodogo for the first regular session of the Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP). The meeting, chaired by the High Commissioner of the province, allowed participants to take ownership of the WELTARE GURE project and take stock of the implementation of the Agro-Pastoral and Fisheries Offensive (OAPH) in the province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Boulgou Provincial Consultation Framework provides a forum for dialogue and coordination between local development stakeholders. It brings together representatives of the administration, local authorities, state technical services, projects and programs, NGOs, and civil society.

Opening the proceedings, High Commissioner Domegbeguiere Constantin Dabire recalled the importance of the consultation framework in synergizing development efforts and finding common solutions to the economic, social, and security challenges facing the province. He called on all stakeholders to strengthen collaboration for greater effectiveness of interventions on the ground.

The provincial secretary general, provincial directors of technical services, and several partners took part in the discussions. The agenda included a presentation of the WELTARE GURE project and the status of the implementation of the OAPH in Boulgou.

Presented by Ms. Rasmata Kere, project manager at the TIN TUA association, the WELTARE GURE project has been operating in Burkina Faso since September 2024 and was officially launched in the Nakambe region in December 2024. Funded by a consortium of seven actors (three international NGOs and four national associations), the project aims to strengthen the protection and resilience of populations affected by the security and humanitarian crisis.

Ms. Kere indicated that the project is implemented by the IRC-DRC-NRC consortium, in partnership with TIN TUA, and that it supports local structures through capacity building, community recovery and social cohesion actions.

For his part, Issa Pabgo, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Animal Resources, presented the progress of the Agro-Pastoral and Fisheries Offensive (OAPH). According to him, this government initiative aims to stimulate agricultural and livestock production in a context marked by climatic and security challenges.

At the end of the discussions, participants welcomed the holding of this session, which allows for the harmonization of actions on the ground and the improvement of the flow of information between partners. They expressed their commitment to actively contributing to the success of the WELTARE GURE project, which means "the well-being of the community" in Fulfulde, and to the achievement of the OAPH's objectives.

The High Commissioner of Boulgou closed the session by reiterating the call for consultation and solidarity between development actors, in order to make the CCP/Boulgou an instrument for coordinating and promoting development in the service of the populations.
