The High Commissioner of the province of Sanmatenga, Idrissa Gansonré, launched Thursday in Kaya, a series of activities on social cohesion (fora and maracana) and communal days of the youth of the 09 communes of the Center-North region.In order to consolidate regional dialogue, coordination and strengthening of data and capacities, the Technical Alliance for Development Assistance (ATAD) within the framework of the implementation of the Community Project for the Recovery and Stabilization of the Sahel in Burkina (PCRSS-Burkina), initiated a series of activities to strengthen social cohesion and living together between Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host populations, in 09 beneficiary municipalities of the Center-North region.According to the High Commissioner of the Sanmatenga province, Idrissa Gansonré, representing the governor of the Centre-North region, like other regions of our country, the Centre-North has been severely affected by the security and humanitarian crisis."This crisis has also undermined living together and social cohesion. It is with this in mind that the authorities of our country were willing to initiate the PCRSS in order to bring comfort to our population," he said.Today we are here, explained Mr. Gansonré, to launch a series of activities that will take place in the 9 municipalities where the project is involved."These activities will consist of forums, maracana competitions that aim to allow the population to rub shoulders, to socialize and this is how we will be able to strengthen the social cohesion that is essential to the search for development," he said.The national coordinator of PCRSS-Burkina, Boulaye Sanogo, congratulated the implementation of these activities to enable all social classes in the Centre-North region to come together to discuss in order to lay the foundations for living together."I am also delighted that following this regional launch, the 9 beneficiary municipalities will take over to run these frameworks for exchange and promotion of sol idarity and living together," said Mr. Sanogo.Regarding the Maracana competitions and the communal youth days, the coordinator added that they will highlight the talents, ideas and initiatives of young people.According to him, these competitions and the communal youth days also offer an opportunity for young people, whether they are IDPs or hosts, to meet, exchange and build links between themselves and with their respective communities.PCRSS-Burkina is a government initiative financed by the World Bank, with the objective of contributing to the recovery of communities in target areas of the Liptako-Gourma region in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.In the Centre-North region, ATAD was selected as a facilitating partner to intervene in 09 communes which are Kaya, Pissila, Korsimoro, Boussouma, Tougouri, Barsalogho, Yalgo, Kongoussi, Sabcé.With a duration of 5 years 6 months, its priority beneficiaries are internally displaced persons and vulnerable host populations.
