The Autonomous Civil Servants' Retirement Fund (CARFO) handed over 1,000 school scholarships and food to the children of its pensioners on Friday in Ouagadougou, the AIB noted at the headquarters of the provident institution.On the occasion of the 17th edition of its solidarity actions, the Autonomous Civil Servants' Retirement Fund (CARFO), with the support of its partners, awarded 1,000 school scholarships and food to the orphans of its retirees. According to the Director General (DG) of CARFO, Hyacinthe Tamalgo, this gesture aims to facilitate somewhat access to education for orphans of CARFO pensioners and Defense and Security Forces who fell on the battlefield.'This year we increased the number of scholarships to 1,000 because the success rate of the children we supported in 2023 has increased,' Tamalgo explained.According to the general director, the success rate of children was 44.37% in 2023 against 75% in 2024.For the Minister in charge of social protection, Bassolma Bazié, this activity ca lls on the population to realize that "orphans are everyone's children and deserve everyone's help.""Whether it is a state vocational school, a kindergarten, universities or any level of school, managers should be very vigilant," he suggested.In addition to the scholarships, more than 900 50 kg bags of rice were given to the children.Since 2008, the Autonomous Civil Servants' Pension Fund has offered 7,161 scholarships estimated at more than 716 million FCFA.Created in 1986, CARFO's mission is to manage the social security system applicable to public agents of the State in Burkina Faso.Source: Burkina Information Agency
