Burkina Centre-West Region Launches Burkinabe Heritage Month with Presidential Message

Koudougou: The Centre-West region of Burkina Faso launched the third edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month in Koudougou, marked by the broadcast of a message from President of the Transition, Ibrahim Traoré. The message, originally delivered in Bobo-Dioulasso, was highlighted at the event held at Governorate Square.According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by key regional figures and commenced with the national flag raising at 7:30 a.m., followed by a speech from interim governor, Adama Jean Yves Béré. In his speech, the governor emphasized that Heritage Month, inaugurated in April 2023, seeks to bolster national identity through the promotion of cultural heritage.The governor conveyed the President's message, which focused on "Cultural Heritage and Economic Development," the theme for the 2025 edition. President Traoré urged the citizens of Burkina Faso to embrace their cultural heritage as a cornerstone for national unity and development. He highlighted the importance of p reserving traditions, knowledge, and places of memory, while encouraging media and intellectuals to become more engaged in this initiative.The interim governor encouraged the Centre-West residents to engage actively in the month's activities, which include conferences on domestic tourism, wearing traditional Koko Dunda and Faso Dan Fani attire in government offices, a sanitation day, and tourist excursions. Heritage Month aims to showcase local cultural wealth and serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic development.
