Burkina Faso and Morocco Celebrate 26 Years of Throne Day Commemoration, Emphasizing Future Cooperation Based on Dignity and Sovereignty

Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso shares with the Kingdom of Morocco the ambition to build a future based on dignity, sovereignty, and mutually beneficial cooperation, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traor©, during an event in Ouagadougou marking the 26th Anniversary of the Throne Day.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso participated in the event on July 30, 2025, commemorating the anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne. Minister Traor© highlighted Morocco's evolution into a significant African power under King Mohammed VI, emphasizing its openness, innovation, and continental support.

Minister Traor© expressed that Burkina Faso shares Morocco's vision for a future rooted in dignity and cooperation. He emphasized the enduring and sincere relations between the two nations, which have been built on mutual respect and shared aspirations since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1965.

The minister outlined the strategic cooperation areas between Burkina Faso and Morocco, including agriculture, food security, vocational training, higher education, infrastructure, health, and diplomacy. He noted the increase in private investment as another area of collaboration.

The robust bilateral relations have been nurtured by the efforts of diplomats, ambassadors, and various community leaders over the years. This year, the two countries will hold the fifth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

Minister Traor© described the partnership with Morocco as a strategic lever for Burkina Faso's economic and technological transformation, emphasizing opportunities in industrialization, agro-processing, renewable energy, digital technology, and vocational training. He noted that the economies of both nations could complement each other effectively.

The minister praised King Mohammed VI's efforts to promote dialogue, regional integration, and support stability in the Sahel region. He also commended the royal initiative facilitating Sahel countries' access to the Atlantic, highlighting its strategic significance for regional connectivity.

On behalf of President Captain Ibrahim Traor©, Minister Traor© extended warm congratulations to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people, celebrating the enduring ties between Burkina Faso and Morocco.
