Ouagadougou: The Association Cinéma Vision-Burkina Faso (ACV-BF) hosted a workshop named 'ÉDUC CINÉMA' to spark interest among young individuals aged 18 to 25 in the domains of film creation and criticism, aiming to introduce them to the world of cinema and its myriad opportunities.According to Burkina Information Agency, ACV-BF President Coulibaly Kassoum expressed his satisfaction with the successful organization of this initiative, highlighting it as the result of concerted efforts by the association's members. The workshop's objective is to impart foundational knowledge about cinema, its history, professions, and the analytical tools necessary for film criticism to the participants.Mr. Coulibaly emphasized cinema as a distinct art form with its own history and language system, stressing the importance of teaching young people about its basics. He conveyed a hope that this initiative would ignite a passion for cinema among the youth and motivate them to explore career opportunities in the field. He pr aised the participants for their engagement and wished them a fruitful training experience.Instructor Orokia Barro outlined that the workshop would begin with a brief history of cinema, followed by insights into film production and promotion. Participants will engage in writing, directing, and editing a short mobile film, concluding the session with the viewing and analysis of a short film.Évariste Pooda, a prominent figure in Burkinabe cinema and the event's patron, commended the initiative for fostering national cinema and preparing future generations. He encouraged the young participants to maximize this opportunity to delve into the cinematic world, recognizing the potential for some to become tomorrow's cinema professionals.Barry Ousseni, representing the young attendees, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the cinema profession at no cost.The training will be conducted in two sessions on Saturdays, July 26 and August 2, 2025, in Ouagadougou. Participants will en gage in four modules covering the history of cinema, film production and promotion processes, filmmaking professions, and film analysis.
