Burkina Faso Launches 7th National Tourism Entrepreneur Award to Boost Sector

Koudougou: The Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism officially launched the 7th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award (PNET) 2025 during a press conference. Despite security challenges, Burkina Faso's tourism sector continues to show resilience.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministry's Secretary General, Aymar Fid¨le Tamini, highlighted the importance of the award, established in 2019, as a key encouragement for private stakeholders. The PNET aims to stimulate excellence and innovation in line with the National Culture and Tourism Strategy, enhancing Burkina Faso's attractiveness and economic benefits. It also aligns with the Stabilization and Development Action Plan, focusing on creating a competitive industrial and artisanal sector with decent jobs.

With over 1,380 entrepreneurs participating in previous editions and around a hundred awarded, the PNET has become the largest tourism awards ceremony in the country. The 7th edition, themed "Competitiveness of tourism businesses and promotion of the Burkina Faso destination," will emphasize professionals' adaptability and the expansion of domestic and regional tourism.

The PNET 2025 will acknowledge top entrepreneurs in categories such as accommodation, catering, travel, tours, and tourist reception and entertainment. Applications are open until July 15, 2025, through the General Directorate of Tourism, regional or provincial tourism directorates, or online.

The selection process involves five phases, culminating in the "Night of the Tourism Entrepreneur" on October 10, 2025, in Tenkodogo, where winners will be announced. For the first time, sightseeing excursions and a thematic panel featuring industry leaders will accompany the event.

The Ministry encourages all tourism stakeholders to participate actively in this edition, which offers a platform for visibility, networking, and strengthening entrepreneurial capacities. The press conference concluded with a symbolic registration of candidates for the PNET 2025 competition.
