Moscow: The President of Burkina Faso, Head of State, made a 72-hour official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of his counterpart Vladimir Putin. At the end of this visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traor©, gave a satisfactory assessment.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit by the President of Burkina Faso was desired and anticipated by the Russian authorities, noted by the head of Burkinabe diplomacy. Several activities were held on this occasion. These included a working session with Russian President Vladimir Putin, participation in the commemorative ceremony of the Great Russian Victory during the Second World War, an audience with the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and a meeting with the community of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
Each step of the visit, as stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, was an opportunity to learn, understand and reinvest the results of the discussions in public policies in Burkina Faso. The bilateral working session with President Putin reviewed a number of cooperation issues including university training, energy, defense, and security, aligning with the visions of the two Heads of State.
In discussions with the Venezuelan President, the focus was on upgrading cooperation agreements as part of strengthening relations and rapprochement between the two countries. Meanwhile, exchanges with the AES community in Russia allowed President Ibrahim Traor© to reiterate his vision on training in scientific and technical fields.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karmoko Jean-Marie Traor©, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the mission. "We are leaving satisfied to the extent that this stay has allowed us to give another dimension to our cooperation," he stated, announcing the identification of new avenues of cooperation by the authorities of the two countries to guide future actions.
